Located to the east of Nashville-Davidson County. One of the fastest growing counties in the country. Home to the Nissan Motor Manufacturing Company in Smyrna. The county seat is Murfreesboro, the largest city in Rutherford County. Murfreesboro is the home of Middle Tennessee State University.
